It is So Easy to Teach a Young Child Spanish! By Emily Laura Stevens

One of the easiest things to do is to teach a young child a new language. Spanish is an excellent choice to teach children because it is the second most spoken language in the world today and will give your children an advantage in the workplace in the future. Children learn very easily and absorb information much like a sponge absorbs fluids. With a little effort you can teach your child to speak Spanish.

How many times has your child said something that you wondered where they picked that up? Children can surprise us because they have the ability to retain information much easier than many people think. You can begin to teach a child a new language as young as two years old. Some people are under the impression that teaching more than one language at a time will confuse the child but studies have shown this is not true. The key to accomplishing this task is to use persistence so the child will expect to have the information given to them.

The best method is always the simplest. Don't try to teach difficult words or phrases at the beginning. Start with simple things like colors and items your child plays with. If they have already learned the English word, it will be much easier for them to translate the concept into Spanish. Some parents use flashcards to help enforce the words. A picture of a dog with the Spanish word on the back will help the child to learn. They will learn to link the word with the image.

If you can speak Spanish words as part of your everyday routine, you will help your child to associate the words quicker. Children listen to everything you say and you will be surprised how much they learn from what you say when you aren't paying attention. You can look online for many tools to help you teach Spanish to your child. Many websites have been created that cater to young children and use audio and visual cues to entertain the child while re-enforcing Spanish words. Games and activities make the lessons fun and the child has a better chance of staying interested.

You can label many of the things around the house that your child uses everyday with Spanish labels. You might use post-it notes and put them on your door, TV, tables, chairs, and others. The more you expose your child to Spanish on a daily basis, the easier it will be for him or her to learn and retain the new language. Just take it one day at a time and you will be surprised how easily and quickly your child will learn Spanish!

You are going to be able to speak at a restaurant, at an airport, with new friend, in basically every situation you can think of! So, whether you are interested in learning Spanish for your job, to communicate with neighbors, or if you are planning to travel to a Spanish speaking country, learning a new language online has never been easier!
